Who Needs A Coffee Urn
Coffee urns are very useful in the home and workplace. A commercial coffee urn and a coffee urn for the home will only have slight differences. A commercial coffee urn is designed for more frequent use. At home a coffee urn is ideal for entertaining all year round but not designed for daily use. If an urn will get daily use all year consider a commercial coffee urn. Typically, non commercial coffee urns brew 12-55 cups of coffee and are used on special occasions or when guests will be serving themselves. They are perfect for holidays, birthdays and dinner parties. You can also find a larger 101 cup coffee urns for use at home or office. Non commercial coffee urns are commonly used in homes, churches, offices, and meeting rooms. Larger commercial coffee urns and coffee makers brew 3, 6 0r 15 gallons of coffee. Use and Care of Coffee Urn
Proper care of a coffee urn is essential for long life. Empty and
clean your coffee urn after each use. Dry thoroughly before storing.
As with a regular coffeemaker periodically clean your coffee urn
with a vinegar water mix or commercial pot cleaner as directed by
the manufacturer. Clean the coffee basket completely and allow to
dry before storing. Many coffee baskets are dishwasher safe. Never
submerge the coffee urn unless indicated by manufacturer. Unplug
your urn when finished.
To brew coffee proper strength follow the same guidelines suggested
in How to Brew Coffee. Also consult the manufacturers guideline for
determining the amount of coffee to use. Remember cup size differs.
The size of the "cup" of your urn may differ from the size of the
"cup" of your coffeepot. As soon as the coffee has finished brewing
remove the coffee grinds. Use care when removing the grind basket as
the grinds will be hot. Many coffee urns will have a light to
indicate brewing is complete.
